In this project, I was assigned to design playing cards with any style I wanted, only using illustrations. I started off scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration. What caught my attention was black with popping colors like neon. Another thing that caught my attention was line art. I then decided I wanted to explore a more geometric style for this project. I sketched up a rough draft of what I wanted to design. Then I brought it into illustrator and drew out geometric skulls for the face cards with all lines. I decided to color in the skulls’ crowns in different shades of pink or blue depending on their suit, to make them look like gems. For the numbered cards I made all the suits into gems, keeping my geometric style consistent.
